Why I created Bump Birth Body

“I am one of those people who has always enjoyed physical activity of any kind from yoga to skiing, from strength training to horse riding. It took me until I was in my early 20’s and training for a marathon to realise the difference though between being able to push your body to do something physically hard and actually being fit and strong enough to be physically and mentally able. It was a ‘penny dropped’ moment and I have taken the lesson forward in the way I’ve trained every woman since.

I trained as a Personal Trainer and Soft Tissue Therapist in 2010 and soon after decided that my main area of interest was in women’s health and fitness. I went on to specialise in pre/postnatal exercise and pregnancy massage.

When I became pregnant for the first time in 2017, I realised first hand just what a demand pregnancy, birth and being a new parent puts on a person’s body both physically and mentally.

I did what I knew best, I ate well, I exercised to look after and prepare my body physically and I found birth education in the form of hypnobirthing to prepare myself mentally

I exercised and practiced hypnobirthing throughout both my pregnancies and births and found the combination so beneficial that I wanted to share the knowledge with the women I train, I qualified as a hypnobirthing teacher myself in 2019.

I set up Bump Birth Body to bring all three areas of my work together; personal training, massage and hypnobirthing to best support women through this particular stage in their lives so that they too feel as fit, healthy and prepared as possible.

So, you see, birth is similar to training for a marathon, our bodies can do it with little to no preparation, sometimes this goes well, and other times parents are left wishing they’d done or known more. I believe that birth should be given the space and respect it deserves by physically and mentally preparing for what is a life changing event in any parents life”
